From: Clean Water Network
National Clean Water Call-In Day: Call Senate offices this Thursday, December 1st, between 9-5 pm Eastern, to urge a NO vote on the destructive Barrasso-Heller Dirty Water amendment. For Senate contact information click on: www.senate.gov. You can also call the Capitol directory at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected.
Senators Barrasso (WY-R) and Heller (NV-R) will be offering a dirty water amendment to the Energy and Water Appropriations bill, which the full Senate is expected to vote on sometime within the next few weeks, before the Senate breaks for the holidays. If this amendment passes, our nation’s waters will be at risk of becoming more polluted. Waters that will lose protection, if this amendment passes, include headwater, intermittent, and ephemeral streams that supply public drinking water systems that serve more than 117 million Americans.
For nearly four decades, the Clean Water Act has been our nation’s best defense against toxic water contamination and other water pollutants. It is nothing short of pathetic, that polluters are pushing Congress to effectively repeal key pieces of this important law. Senators need to know that supporting dirty water is not a good campaign strategy
Timing:
Please report on your calls to cwnheadquarters@cwn.org. We want to jam the Senate phone lines on Capitol Hill this Thursday. To make that happen we need all of you to call. Please send this action alert to your own members and networks. Our opponents are dramatically outspending us, to the tune of millions of dollars inlobbying and campaign contributions, to make themselves heard. Help us drown them out by raising our voices loudly for clean water! A 2-5 minute call will make a huge impact. Thanks in advance for participating in CWN’s National Clean Water Call Your Senator Day.

Remember, don’t forget to tell your Senators that Dirty Water is not the gift their constituents would appreciate this Holiday Season!
Thank you for taking action, and for everything you do to protect our nation’s waters.
