House Democrats accused Republicans of playing politics with an energy bill on Wednesday by calling up a bill reflecting President Obama's plans to allow offshore oil and gas lease sales only to kill it.

"The only reason the majority is bringing this bill up is to defeat it," Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) said, just before the vote.
