With over 40 million acres of designated wilderness, the National Park Service (NPS) is responsible for stewarding some of America's most iconic protected landscapes and engaging the public in building personal relationships with these special places. In an effort to highlight the diversity of experiences people may share with wilderness, the NPS has partnered with the film students at American University in Washington, DC to develop a new video series called America's Wilderness.

The 3-5 minute videos take place in different wilderness parks across the country, featuring stories that capture an array of experiences shared between people and wilderness. Every other Wednesday we'll be highlighting the latest NPS videos here in our blog.

The National Park Service and the Sierra Club hope that by 2014 - the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act - many wilderness stories will be in circulation, some like those highlighted in the videos, and others presented in different ways, by different people and organizations, like you.
